Where is Mischa?

I havnt seen the movie but have been looking for it. On the trailer it seems like Mischa Barton isnt in it much. Can someone tell me is this true?

reply

She's in it a little bit. She's one of the girl's classmates at school. She's definitely a character though.

she plays the new girl at school who moves to the US from the UK, and she's the only one who will be friends with dominique swain's character until she eventually ditches her for the "in crowd". it's funny to see her in this because she looks soooo young, like she's right in the middle of puberty so she's suddenly gotten really tall but she still has this baby face. she's one of the major supporting roles, though the movie as a whole is pretty unbearable. mischa's pretty bad, mostly because her british accent is horrible, which is sad because she's from london and her parents are brits! but it's kind of hard not to suck with such a terrible script.

reply

Although she was born in London she moved to the USA as a young child, so i don't think you could expect her to keep her English accent. Also she is half English half Irish, which would not automatically give her an "English" accent.

reply

I am a fan of Barton, but to be honest it's very rare you see an american (I know she was born here, but she is now American) do a half-decent English Accent - it's always forced and over-done.

reply

well sure it's rare that the average american can do a good british accent, but that shouldn't be the case for american actors who are hired to play brits. i don't really expect every actor to have a virtually perfect accent like the kind that johnny depp, gwyneth, & renee zellweger do, but it should be somewhat convincing. i can think of tons of actors don't sound "forced & overdone", either because they have a talent for imitating sounds or because they've been properly trained in that particular dialect. some have a natural talent for certain accents, some only figure it out with lots of phonetics coaching, and some just never wrap their brains around it no matter how much coaching they get. yeah mischa grew up in the states, but she spent the first several years of her life in the UK & has family there. she's been heavily exposed to british accents her whole life so of all people you'd think she could do a flawless one. i mean, freaking lindsay lohan did a better accent than mischa when she was little in "the parent trap", and she's not even from there!

"...gotta go, bat signal"

reply

im sorry but you have it completely wrong mischa is not even friends with dominiques character at first !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DUH!!

reply

Well, if you look at the development of the relationship between Mischa's character, Grace and Dominique Swain's character, Cat, as being made up of three distinct 'phases', then you are both correct.

First phase: Grace and Cat are not yet friends, while Delilah is still attending Chilton.
Second phase: With Delilah expelled, Grace and Cat become friends quickly.
Third phase: Grace, under the force of peer pressure, grows distant once more from Cat.

So in essence, Grace *is* the only person willing to befriend Cat before the rest of the clique do, although it may not occur in the very first part of the film.

I'm not sure what it is about message boards that oft makes self-righteous posters out of otherwise nice people, but I think it would be wise to be more open-minded.

british accents always cound funny next to americans anyway, look at that red haired doctor in er, terrible forced posh british accent...actually british.

and accents get lost so easily anyway, unless you hear language spoken with an accent all the time, it is very hard to keep it. obviously as an actor, you're meant to be able to mimic it, but it's not everyone's strong point.

reply

she's the bitch with the pain stakingly horrible accent. i want to beat her down with a bat she's so obnoxious.

reply

I would like to beat you down with a broomstick, you old bat, you sound totally obnoxious.

Yeah, like somebody who couldn't stand Mischa Barton in THE O.C. and now digs through the movies she made as a kid, and sneers cruelly.

I think she's a class act. She gave herself very well to film, starting out at a tender age. Practically prepubescent when she did LAWN DOGS. So, she's been an achiever all her life.

That is more than most of us can say.

Oh, hate, hate, hate, it's your right, feel free. But it is so unbecoming! Look at the child's performance again, there's nothing to hate, just much to be envious about. Know the difference.

Ah, the lessons I must teach these people. Toodle-doo, my tea's getting cold.

reply

She's the little skinny one that's very unlikeable.

reply

Okay, if you are talking about Grace, the character, she does become very unlikable. But I get the distinct impression everybody here is picking on Mischa herself, as 'skinny' reflects on the actress. I think Mischa is just too cute for words. Okay, she's not exactly one of us, she might not want to give us the time of day, but her film performances has always been a whole lot better than the average film critic would care to admit. So, I resent your negative input. And what you see as skinny, I see as small and cute. Culminating in the glorious vision she became in THE O.C. Very lean, but then, lean is so much better than big and fat, huh?

If you were simply inspired by the character's ugly racial bigotry, yeah! But that's the scripted character. Shows you Mischa can act, huh?
