Why would Randy and Jewel have sex?

There's one thing I don't understand: Why would Randy and Jewel, for some reason, have sex right at the beginning of the movie?

I've not seen this film for ages so I may be thinking of the wrong part, but Jewel sleeps with Randy so her boyfriend can come and rob the place the next day

The sex scene between Randy (Matt Dillion) and Jewel (Liv Tyler) i think is one of the most sexiest moments in movie history. I'm not sure if Jewel sleeping with Randy was apart of Jewel and Utah's plan, because in the scene where Jewel kills Utah she tells Randy she never slept with the men she and Utah robbed before. That would had meant, Jewel sleeping with Randy wouldn't had been apart of the plan.

I'm pretty sure I'm right about this ..

All Jewel wants is her dream house , when she first sees the house she says it has potential. So she needs a sure way of gettin Randy to let her live there so she basically sleeps with him so he'll be tricked into thinkin that she was in love with him and gettin her feet under the table in the house.

Yah, I'm pretty sure you're right about that too. She just does whatever she feels like to get what she wants. She doesn't even think a whole lot about it. An opportunity pops up she jumps on it. No pun intended.

i think that she had slept before with her victims. but she just told randy that she didn't ,because it was a part of her plan.

I can't believe anybody would bother asking why anyone had sex.
But Randy had sex with Jewel because he is a man as any normal would.
The question should have been why did Jewel have sex with Randy, the answer is so that she could have a house which had been her dream (with a fountain in the corner of one of the rooms! nice)
