Why no Ermac in MK4? MK3 SPOILER

I thought Ermac's MK3/UMK3/MKT ending specified that he would be back in MK4 as an "unstoppable force". Then MK4 came out... and no Ermac. I've been wondering since then why the makers lied about Ermac being in it. What happened?

Not all MK endings are canon. Only a few (if any) are treated as having actually happened. Since Ermac was an unlockable, he was probably just regarded as extra fluff for the game.

He does, however, play a large role in Mortal Kombat: Deception, easily the best MK since MKII.
