One of the best Hong Kong films ever made

Fantastic, creative, dazzling and immensely enjoyable comic book film that has some of the most impressive martial arts action and special effects ever commited to film. The CGI is truly impressive considering this was made 10 years ago. The plot is very interesting and complex and you need to pay full attention to appreciate it. All of the characters are extremely cool, especially Ekin Chen who is one of the most underrated actors working in Hong Kong. If you are a fan of martial arts, even art house martial arts, then you will love this film! Just a pity that Jackie Chan could not have played a role in this masterpiece.

My rating: 10/10

I can't believe this has an IMDb rating of 5.6!!

Don't try to be like Jackie. There is only one Jackie. Study computers instead.

Agreed ThomasWArkley.

Having read the original comic book version published by Jademan Comics when it was titled the Blood Sword and the Blood Sword Dynasty I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was already familiar with these characters and the story.

This film was the first I saw from Mr. Manfred Wong's adapted works into a live action movie. After having viewed it I went out searching for others like it and was ecstatic to come across Dragon Tiger Gate (which is the film version of Mr. Manfred Wong's Oriental Heroes comic book series).

The film has some definite problems, but I overlook them because I thought they captured most of the essence of the original comic book version. The actors did an amazing job. The fight scenes were amazing, the story was very nicely done if choppy at certain times, and the characters and storyline followed the comic book version nicely.

Overall, I would give this film a 8 out of 10. Yes, my standards are that high that I can't even give a wonderfully nostalgic film a higher score. Just trying to be honest.
