I didn't get it...

Today I came across this movie listening to Skin's (aka skunk anansie) music and as a Franka Potente kind of fan I decided to look for this and luckly I found one with subtitles. By the way as I write I'm listening to the movie credits so I really just watched.

I really like the film... I thinks it's a breath of fresh air specially because I'm kind of getting tired of holywood films and it's still a beautiful romance and drama. However I'm not quite sure I got the story of this film.

First of all I loved Franka's performance but I couldn't understand her character. I'm not talking about her family or her supposed one I'm talking about how she acts. She's wonders a lot, barely speaks, she goes looking for Bodo and never thinks about saying thanks and so many other things.

Second I really think I didn't get the movie and it really bugs me. I know some films let the viewer decide but in this case it really messed up my head and I don't even know what to think. Can somebody try to explain me a little this film? I would really apreciated.

For the first point, Sissi is a bit different. She is not normal. She was raise in an asylum and was an orphan. It made her different.

For the second point, what didn't you get?
Different girl meets emotionally damaged guy. Bond forms. They heal each other.

Actually she is not an orphan, she tells Bodo that her father is one of the asylum inmates but doesn't tell him which one he is. I believe her father is Werner Durr because of their abusive interaction.
