An atheist perspective

I am an atheist - and yet, I did enjoy this movie. In fact, I enjoy a lot of the "armaggedon" type movies. While, to me, this movie was nothing but fiction, I thought it was very enjoyable. One thing this movie has over the "Left Behind" series, is that little bit of science, and an over all more generic approach to the end time scenario. Say what you want, but this movie had, at least, a better plot than most of the other "biblical" end time movies that come out of fundamentalist ideas.

I agree...atheist and also enjoy the Omega Code movies.

It is the insecure on both sides that will be the loudest opponents. The films are just damn funny and cool in an odd way. They aren't "good" films but they definitely fill a certain sub-genre of entertaining movies.

As an atheist, you can certainly suspend belief in the hamfisted christian angle while continuing to suspend disbelief in the ridiculous events of the movie like most moviegoers have to do anyway.

Stone Alexander is one of my favorite antagonists in movies from the last 10 years or so.
It is easy to see SOME parallels in the real world compared with the characters in the movie.
Fun stuff overall. I like the 2nd one even more.

As an atheist myself, I have to say that I thought this movie was poo. I was open minded going into it, but quickly realized the dialogue was dense and simple, the character studies were spotty, the story dragged and yet rushed over important details that could've made the narrative better, and the literal deus ex machina was too sudden, with an unresolved ending. In short, this was just very stinky poo.

The only redeeming aspect was watching Michael Ironside as a scummy villain. Man, that never gets old.
