Early seasons

So much better than the current episodes. Grittier stories and not as glossy looking. More like the original law and order.

I stopped watching this series. Too much about rape victims, etc.

reply

What? That's what the show has always primarily about.

reply

Sexual assault, but SVU are also supposed to be involved with crimes involving children, the elderly, and the disabled

reply

no doubt about that, early seasons felt realistic, cold, down to earth and rather dark, now it feels fake and as you said glossy and polished like NCIS, such a pity.

reply

I don't agree that it resembles NCIS. I mean, not at all.

reply

I didn't care for the earlier seasons because of the focus on Elliot.

I do care for the earlier seasons because of the focus on Elliot.

I too like the earlier seasons much better. I've been rewatching the series and on season 4. I haven't grown bored of it yet.

After watching the Stabler episodes in rerun a couple times, I'm enjoying moving onto Kelli Giddish and Scanavino. Nothing wrong with Chris Meloni, but he had a good long run, and I think sometimes the newer eps have a better visual to them. I even like Jamie Hyder a bit. I'm glad Fin is still around, and some how Hargitay manages to carry the show forward.
Still a compelling and satisfying watch for me, although I do have reservations.
