Franklin's parents

Hey, do the parents work? (Bear's mom is a doctor.) The turtles have money. I have never seen them go to work. Just curious.

...have you ever seen a human heart? It looks like a fist covered in blood.

The reason they don't work is probably because they scrounge off welfare benefits.

reply

Huh, you know I never noticed that. Their animals so I dont they need money. I
wonder how they get by though. Pretty weird huh?

reply

They mentioned other people having jobs.
Mr. Mole's hardware store.
Mrs. Goose is the librarian.
Badger's dad owns the ice cream store.
Bear's mom is a doctor.
:P

And maybe Franklin's mom went to the hospital to lay the egg there. Maybe it wold be too inappopriate and gross if Franklin saw it?

It's funny that somebody should mention this. As an avid follower of the series, this is something I have always wondered about too and have mentioned it on other boards. Here are a couple of thoughts:

A.) Franklin's parents are already wealthy --- they have inherited money, but deliberately live a simple lifestyle.
B.) In Back to School with Franklin, we see that when Franklin is off at school, both Mr. and Mrs. Turtle are busy in the garden. Perhaps they sell what they garden.
C.) One or both of them work at home, but it's never shown.

As for the whole baby issue --- these sorts of things are always difficult when you're dealing with anthropomorphic animal characters. Franklin and his family may be turtles, but they also walk and talk as if they're human, just like the other characters on the show. An egg, I think, is really out of the question, as Mrs. Turtle was shown as being pregnant. This wasn't just something they made up for the TV show either, it's the same in the book.

"Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the floor, eh Franklin?"

"Paper can be ripped - like your HEAD!"

They are Canadian, after all.

I have a broad taste - brilliant taste - in films, I think.
