Creepy performance by Linney

I was not surprised to find that Laura Linney has no brother in real life. Because no sister would smile at her brother the way Linney does here. At least no sister who did not want to have wild sex with her brother. I mean, did you see the lustful way she kept gazing at him? She (the actress, not the character) is/was clearly infatuated with Ruffalo. At least that's the feeling I get.

There is more authenticity in the adult brother-sister dynamic in one scene between Jack Nicholson and Lois Smith in Five Easy Pieces than there is throughout this entire turgid film.

Lol I would totally go straight for Mark Ruffalo.

Who doesn't want to sleep with Mark Rufallo. I'm a guy and I'd give him a go.

AWESOME!!

I was just so happy to see him in the bathtub. Mark Ruffalo should be contractually obligated to be wet (and nekked) in all his films.

I dunno. I think Sammy has idealized her brother, which probably just makes his life harder, since he is pretty perceptive of other people, and knowing she thinks he's Mr Wonderful while he knows he's a mess would discourage him even more. But anyway, that's why she looks at him with those starry eyes.

I don't think Linney appeared sexually attracted to Ruffalo in the movie--seemed platonic enough to me. I wouldn't be surprised about anything that happened off-camera though or what they really felt. They're both very good-looking.

I had a different interpretation of her smile. I commented in her first interaction with her boss how she continued to smile even when he was being just a douche canoe. I couldn't have kept smiling. She had a controlled smile as her default expression because she felt "obligated," a theme that Terry even voiced to her son.

So I didn't get that feeling. Her smile was part of her character and given to everyone, not just people she wanted to sleep with.

You're right. The whole vibe between them while not obviously incestuous seemed a little closer than a regular sibling connection. That could have been the point with both parents dying at the same time but it seemed to have an extra something.

Her openly telling him that she *beep* her boss was a little bit past the comfort zone for me.

Yeah she was creepy and randy. She jumped on every male in the movie. I half expected her to jump the priest's bones.

She was also a manipulative schemer, since she did the boss to have leverage with him at work.
