So just because terry is a realist and sammy can't handle it, she'd rather stick her head in the sand she tells him to get lost? Even convincing herself that it's best for her son even though it's completely the opposite. She's only looking out for herself which are even to her above that of her son's. Interesting to see how two siblings can turn out so differently. Totally believable and fantastic character writing. Really got my emotions worked up against her.

No, taking her son to show up at his father's house unexpectedly with out telling te mother or warning the father was NOT best for the kid.
Getting in a fist fight in front of an eight year old, getting arrested so he spends the night in child protective services is not best for the kid.
Granted if she had been sleeping with that total dick of a boss, maybe Terry wouldn't have had the opportunity, but taking that kid to see his father was just awfu! He totally deserved to be told to leave. She tried to take it back but, come on, really? Sammy was not a bitch she was protecting her son. Do you have children?
I agree with you fundamentally but I doubt watching his deadbeat father receive a much-deserved ass-kicking will traumatize the child. Terry set the chain of events in motion but Rudy Sr. earned every blow he got at Terry's hands and anyone who watches the scene and says otherwise is painfully delusional.
