It deserves a 4...seriously :)

Not trying to be mean, I didn't hate it, but it was really bad. Linney wasn't credible for a second an an emotional, genuine southerner.

Broderick has no acting skills.

The subplots were unneccessary and eventless.

The main story was boring and eventless.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!

-
A drifter shows up to his sister's house, hangs out with her kid, brings him to a local, rather quiet bar, takes him to see his real dad, gets into a little fight. And later he leaves.

Linney kinda dates one guy, and then sleeps with her married boss.

This is one of my favorite movies....

This movie is about loss, anchors and those that keep us grounded. Both siblings are coping with the loss of their parents and how losing them at a young age has left them rudderless and with voids and struggles that each have while trying to cope the best they can.

The title and the ending say it all, as well....

In some ways, both would like to be like the other, but at the end, both know they will be okay because they still have each other, hence, "you can count on me."

The ending, when she just drives, with her reading glasses on, to me thats foreshadowing of when she's old, like he wont come back, but she's ok.

OR, she has incarnated her dead mother, because she wears old persons glasses, and he incarnated his dad, always gone...

Art seems to always push this idea, that everything is in everything, there are no people, just a general spirit that spreads through people.

Still boring movie though.

I think I would give it a 7.0, okay but nothing to write home about.

Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar, and / or doesn't.

Oh since I disagree with you I'm a Troll? That's rather narrow minded of you.

Definitely overrated. I expected some masterpiece but it was merely decent.

6.5/10

The Station Agent was much better movie.
