Baader-Meinhof Ref

Why did they not translate the comment that the political-minded member of the commune went to join the Baader-Meinhof group? They simply say he's leaving in the translation and leave out this reference altogether. Odd.

Also - anyone know who guy on the poster in the living room was (the red wall)? I'm not referring to Che btw.

one guy i recognized is joe hill, don't know if that's who you're referring to though.

reply

Not sure either. I'll have to go back and check. Thanks!

I don't speak Swedish, so I'm not sure, but from what I could infer from the brief spots of mutual intelligibility it seemed like the subtitles missed a LOT of lines--not just that one. I guess the actors speak quickly and talk over each other often.

In the version i saw i am sure Baader Meinhof is mentionned in the subs

I just watched it and can confirm that Lena shows the letter to Göran about Erik having just left then says something about "Baader-Meinhof" but on my DVD (which is in Swedish with English subtitles) this isn't translated.

reply

Just watched it on Film4 and my English subs did mentioned Baader Meinhof.

Looks bobbins.

Interesting! Didn't get this reference in the subs I saw.

I would love to see a tragi-comic take of Baader Meinhof's activities, those numerous unsuccessful attempts have a lot of material waiting to be exploited (like this one time when they tried to blow up an Israeli aircraft with a hand held rocket launcher from the visitors area of the airport, and accidentally hit a czech(?) aircraft and another czech group jumps in to take responsibility).
