When Brashear finds the nuke, and they use the radar to confirm he found the nuke, why didn't they just use the radar the whole time instead of sending divers? Yes, there was a Russian sub down there (that part of the movie is fictitious, btw), but they used the radar despite knowing the Russian sub was there.

Not certain if it makes a difference or not but Carl stated that the sub stirred up the whole ocean bottom and uncovered the nuke.

Not sure if the RADAR could locate something that was buried.

We have to remember radar technology wasn't as advanced/powerful back then...
