Why is Samantha considered to be one of the 'less attractive' people?

Does anybody else find it ironic that Carly Pope is actually the hottest girl in the show (at least according to me) but still she is supposed to one of the unpopular “less attractive” people?

The lead roles of almost every TV show and movie are attractive people. The exception are small budget movies which can have ugly casts, and comedies which can start funny looking men. HBO shows like The Sopranos and The Wire also have pretty ugly casts.

But yes, Carly Pope is definitely hotter than the popular girls who are supposed to be gorgeous.

she has brown hair. Thus, she is ugly.

I'm kidding of course.

Sometimes the difference between self-amusement and self-actualization is less than you think.

It's not so much that she's less attractive, just that she doesn't fit into the 'popular mould'. It happens quite often in real life, peaople get stereotyped into a particular social status early on in school and it just sticks with them right until the end of high school.

My thoughts exactly. IMO Sam was so gorgeous!

And Brooke was so overrated. I just did not get it.

you are not a beautiful and unique snowflake.

I don't think that Sam was supposed to be less attractive in the least. Harrison was borderline obsessed with her. She winds up dating George who is one of the most popular jocks in school. In one episode she even beats Brooke in national modeling competition.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, i didn't think she was attractive at all, even weird looking. But that's my single opinion and purely a physical one. However, it makes perfect sense what crowd she was in.

On paper it doesn't make sense, but if you think back to high school, it wasn't always the most beautiful girls who were in the popular crowd. In my school you didn't even have to be pretty, you just had to be skinny, easy and bitchy, with rich parents who'd buy you designer stuff.

The mirror... it's broken.
Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.

No idea why... I thought she was soo beautiful, when I younger and watched this..
The other girls in this was really bleh compared to her. I still think so..

I love her, I think she is beautiful. Brooke is pretty too, but she seemed "vanilla" to me. Sam had the funky hair, the dramatic makeup, the cool clothes. But I think they should have mentioned something about Sam being the ugly duckling who turned into a swan or something. Like she didn't realize she was pretty at first. Carmen, Lily and Harrison are all good looking too, so it's not really that they're ugly, just they got left out somehow when the cliques started forming.

It's the not blonde, not obsessed with looks, makeup, fashion stuff. Which is silly because the ones who are obsessed with it and never leave the house without makeup do that because nobody wants to see them without it.
