Original aired episodes VS DVD version (music)

Does anyone have the original aired episodes, recorded or anything? I'm watching the DVD version for the first time after not having seen this show since it aired and I've noticed differences between the aired versions and the DVD versions particularly in the music. This is pretty common due to licensing costs, but it can really affect a show. I remember fans of MTV's Daria were upset with the DVDs of that show because the background music had to be completely redone due to licensing costs, but the "contemporary" music that would always play on Daria when it aired was a huge part of the show, and the DVDs essentially failed to capture that show. It was just this pale imitation of what the fans had loved. I wanted to compare the aired versions of Popular with the DVD version and see what's missing.

I don't have any of the originals, but I can confirm that probably ~50% of the music was changed for the DVDs. Shame--the original soundtrack was perfect.

Get use to my spelling I've dyslexia. Deal with it.

There have been gray market copies of the show available with the original soundtrack for years. Search around, they don't make 'em easy to find in order to avoid being prosecuted. But I can tell you, if you want it, it's out there. I found the entire American Dreams collection that way.

I've noticed this with the DVDs for Dawson's Creek and Sabrina the Teenage Witch, as well as this show. And it really is too bad since the late 90s/early 00s music was such a huge part of each of those shows and really adds to the nostalgia factor (and also the general mood of the show as well). Such a shame.

I have the complete show recorded on VCR from it's rerun. :D I can honestly say that some brilliant tracks were missing. :'(

Tracks I miss the most:
"Smile" - Olive: final scene of "Mary Charity"

"Thank You" - Dido: when Josh and Lily are living together in "Promblems"

"Good Morning" - The Dandy Warhols: this track opens first episode and closes second episode of the show.
