Title sequence - the countryside landscape?

I absolutely love this programme, and especially the theme music which was simple but very chilling, but what is the meaning of the head turning to look at what is a rather poor shot of the countryside?!? It's as if the wrong background image was used when putting the title sequence together or something. Any ideas?

Not sure. I do know the book was set in Hindmere, Surrey - there is no Hindmere in Surrey, think he combined Hindhead with Haslemere. Used to work in Haslemere and I can tell you it is very much like the landscape in the title sequence, may even have been taken there.

The theme music was so thought-provoking. It was just very uplifting but scary at the same time. The visuals of the opening sequence are bizarre and remind me of the old Arthur C. Clarke science series.

These days the TV stations like to run adverts over the closing credits of shows, ruining the whole effect of absorbing and thinking about what you have just seen in a show. We no longer have momments like this.
