Parkers accent

What is Parkers accent? I know you don't know anything about him, but the accent is so weird. First I though he was British, than Scottish, and I thought it was a Boston accent. What is it?

reply

I've watched the movie dozens of times and never once thought he was trying to do any one of those 3 accents.

I won't ask you to trust me. It's the cry of a guilty soul.

reply

Sounds like a poor attempt at imitating Christopher Walken's accent.

reply

Ryan Phillipe said it's based on someone he new in Massachusetts so it could indeed be a variation on the Boston accent.

Or just some guy he knew that spoke funny.

I believe Ryan said it was based upon someone he knew from Baltimore.

It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

I believe in an early draft it was mentioned Parker and Longbaugh are both supposed to be former Special Forces operators gone AWOL. The former South African and the latter Israeli. This isn't mentioned anywhere in the actual film though, with the possible exception of the characters using weapons from the respective countries (can't confirm this, this is according to a second-hand source), so ultimately I can't say.
