Wonderful

One of the sweetest...most heartfelt films I've seen in a long time. Terrific performances...wonderfully scripted and directed.

Totally agree.
Beautiful film.

I'm Italian and grew up on Staten Island, in fact right around the corner from the Bridge Tavern under the Bayonne Bridge. The characters are true to life.

Period detail is perfect.

A great film for ANYBODY!

Is the Bridge Tavern still in business? Someone told me that it closed down a couple of years ago...

Also, did "Buddy's Tavern" really exist? I am familiar with the Port Richmond and West Brighton areas of Staten Island, and I believe that West Street (where Buddy's Tavern was allegedly located) is a residential block. The only bars in the area are located on Castleton Avenue near St. Vincent's Hospital, and none of them are named "Buddy's Tavern".

The Bridge Tavern is still there but it is not run by the same owners as when the movie was filmed.
It's at 75 Innis Street and it's called LACEY'S Bridge Tavern.

The REAL Buddy has his tavern in the Bronx, not Staten Island.
Raymond DeFelitta chose Staten Island and parts of Bayonne because as he said certain neighborhoods had not changed since the 50s.
