For all who wonder how this could have gone. . .

I may not be right in my speculations, but taking from experience of all the teen shows I've watched then this might be how Opposite Sex would have gone and ended. I think some of it may be wrong or right, who knows? If you have anything to add, correct, or tweak then let me know. I enjoy seeking an end to things that don't have it.

Note: The most the show could stretch to is four seasons. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense anymore since high school lasts for four years.

Little bit of season 1 end: The ending of a love story and a little growing up.

In the last five episodes of season 1, I assume that Jed is still trying to get Kate back. Sorry folks, but for the first time, I don't think he does. Kate takes a confident stand; she forgives him, but it's over. Jed keeps moping, but stops his advances. Cary and Stella will either come out in the last episode or in the first episode of season two. Jed and Miranda remain friends, platonic friends. Phil still believes that he can get Kate's heart. In the end, all boys prepare for the future changes and all deal with their different endings.

Season 2: An influx of boys, testing of friendships, and subtle, underlying plot lines of romance.

In season two, there is no doubt that the school receives an influx of new boys. Some want to take advantage of the large amount of girls-- like Cary-- and others see the good reputation and the grades-- like Phil. Either way, a lot of boys have arrived for the new year, which means that there is a new sense of division between the boys. Cary has found some of his own friends, Phil has found his own study buddies who get him and what he likes, and Jed, unsurprisingly, has found no one. I'm also safely assuming, "assuming," that the school has actually fixed the previous problems: the locker rooms, the uniforms, and all other things.

Throughout the beginning of the season, Jed feels isolated and alone, even as Cary and Phil still come around to say hi every once in a while. He also finds himself a little jealous of Miranda and Kate's new love interests, whoever they are. However, since he messed things up with both, he finds himself in a sticky situation of actively trying to get them both and actively throwing a pity party. In the end, or towards the middle of the season, Jed realizes that Cary and Phil will always be his friends and that there was nothing to really mope about. Phil finds his own love interest, which in turn gets Kate feeling a little jealous. Cary and Stella do fine. Jed realizes that he is finally a little over Kate, but that he still likes Miranda.

Season 3: Prepare for all the romance, the ending of another love story, and the beginning of one!

In season three, Jed actively tries to get Miranda back after sitting on the sidelines and moping. However, she actually likes her new boyfriend. Kate realizes she likes Phil. Cary deals with his serious feelings for Stella-- and gets himself in sticky "Cary-like" situations because he cannot handle it. On the other hand, Miranda likes her boyfriend, but she cannot help herself with Jed. Cue the stupid stuff she will get herself into with him, such as accidental sex or kissing, before she realizes that she wants to be with Jed. Kate tries not to be jealous of Phil, but fails-- and her relationship with her boyfriend fails. Phil obviously drops his love interest, selfishly and painfully true to how most teenagers act, and gets together with her; they get into relationship troubles of course. Cary deals with his feelings for Stella-- maybe he loves her, maybe he doesn't?

As all this happens, both Miranda and Stella deal with high school ending and college around the corner. Miranda plans to go to a college half way around the world, since she seems like such a "I want to see the world" kind of a girl and Stella is attending a really prestigious college somewhere in the United States. Because of this, drama obviously ensues. Miranda and Jed only get to really go out for like five or four episodes. In the end, Jed breaks up with her, for her, so she can go out and live her life. For the first time, in a long time, he grows up a little, thinks a little selflessly, and breaks up with her to let her live her life-- his brother also reveals that long distance relationships barely work out anyway; his girlfriend broke up with him too. Cary is a little resistant to this idea and actually promises to stay committed for Stella (yeah, I know, wow! character development is nice!). Stella excitedly agrees and these two show promise. Kate and Phil show promise as well.

Season 4: The ending of a love story, the beginning of adulthood, adventures ensue, and the beginning of the true love story!

In season four, Cary deals with hormonal urges and with Stella being so far away. Phil and Kate are doing well, but both have different plans in mind for college. Jed, on the other hand, is coping and is distressed with his last year. Here, I think, the show focuses highly on studies, college, and life after high school. The boys learn a lot about life in this season and friendships are strengthened here. They all learn to take responsibility for their actions. A new love interest streams in for Jed too, but it's only for a short part of the season as he grows up a lot and kind of understands what he wants and what she wants and all that. They break up and it is what is. Cary messes up, obviously! Stella is at first heartbroken and refuses to forgive him, but when he professes he loves her then she forgives him.

Phil and Kate take a break? Kate plans on staying in California as she realizes that she needs a break from her heavy studies and she wants to take it easy from now on; cue the "school isn't everything" episode. Of course, she plans to go to college, but now she plans on studying something she likes. Throughout the season, she dabbles in the arts and starts being a little more fun and goofier than naturally. Jed and her also start hanging out a little; it's not as awkward between Kate and Jed anymore. In the end, Cary suggests a plan to travel around the States via car for his gap year with Stella and they meet up after graduation to do so. Stella was always so stressed that she's excited to skip out college anyway; I assume she's going to end up doing something like this by herself anyway. Phil and Kate break up mutually; he had plans for New York and he built up his whole life for that, I believe he shouldn't waver from it anyway. Jed plans on going to a college in California, like Kate, too. They bond in this season a lot. After graduation, Jed and Kate decide to go out for some food or whatever. During that, emotions simmer and overflow, they accidentally kiss, but it isn't awkward. Jed and Kate smile at each other and it is heavily implied that they are, were, still interested in each other and will go out.

Why this ending makes sense to me? From the very first episode, even as Jed liked Miranda, he was always so sure of his feelings with Kate. He always picked Kate. Yeah, he liked Miranda, and] if the show went on, as I've shown, he would have gone out with her, but I don't think that was the endgame after the show. All externalities, such as Stella, Gary (is it?), and Cary pointed Jed to Kate. They all knew they were meant to be. I don't think they were meant to be during high school or in the show; I always knew Miranda and Jed were meant to be during the duration of the show. However, Kate and Jed were meant to be outside of high school-- in college or in life. Even as Miranda was much like him, Jed and Kate are very similar in the sense that they are modest people. They don't want much from life even as they're incredibly smart; they're content with what they have, even if Jed doesn't seem to be like that. You can tell that he'll grow up to be a simple, introspective, and softhearted guy. Miranda always looked like she reached for the sky, as does Phil, Cary, and maybe Stella? They want more, they want to see the world, need to see the world. Stella and Cary were always soulmates, Phil was destined to be in New York. Jed and Kate were always meant to be-- meant to be soulmates. It's why Jed always knew, in his heart, Kate was the one. Kate was. He just needed to grow up is all.

Anyway, we all know that, throughout the seasons, the boys have fights, get back together, and grow up. In the very end, they make a promise to visit Phil in New York someday, if they can. In my sensitive little family-oriented mind, I believe every summer they do. Somehow, every summer, they get together and it's like they were in Evergreen Academy once again, going through little summer adventures, and feeling like little teenagers again. You can't really trade those kinds of best friends for anything.

Anyway, let me know what you think. Add, tweak, change, or let me know what's wrong and I'll see to it. I hope this made you feel satisfied. I know I needed it.
