'Gold dubloons and pieces of eight....'

"Gold dubloons and pieces of eight
All belong to Applegate
The chest is here, but wait!.....
pieces of eight, pieces of eight, pieces of eight.....

I have not seen this since the 1950s, but parts of the theme song are still there in my brain.

would be nice if Disney would create a Retro-Disney Channel to show all their old classics.

Memorable as all "get out"

Sorry for the late reply --- back in the '80s, when Disney launched the Disney Channel, it was almost all retro !! Then, as they added new shows, they created "Vault Disney," late-night retro viewing for Moms & Dads who were up feeding their infants. You are right though --- for too long of a time, they've been holding onto the good stuff, or else releasing it every so often on DVD. They know that their best marketing gimmick is the old adage --- "Absence makes the heart grow fonder !!" Check your local library for old Disney shows / cartoons on DVD or VHS.

"A bride without a head !"
"A wolf without a foot !"

The theme song is lodged in my memory as well... didn't it go:

"Gold dubloons and pieces of eight,
Handed down to Applegate
The chest is here, but wait...
Now where are those gold dubloons?
And pieces of eight, pieces of eight, pieces of eight..."

My lord, memory is a strange thing.

Regarding memory you are so right. I guess it's 55 years (I was 12) and while I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday, I can still heat that song playing in my head along with M-i-c-k-e-y M-o-u-s-e; M-i-c-k-e-y, M-o-u-s-e ...

Yes, VERY memorable ! Also made indelible by the voice of the inimitable Thurl Ravenscroft --- we knew him best as the voice of Tony the Tiger, and the singer of "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch !!!"

"A bride without a head !"
"A wolf without a foot !"

Definitely the most catchy of all the Mickey Mouse Club serial songs! I hadn't heard it for 48 years and had all but about two words right!
