great movie

I enjoyed this movie alot, i remember going to see it when i was at the cinema and i laughed my bollocks off.

Having been a massive Bottom fan for years, owning all their DVD's been to 2 live shows and enjoyed every second of it. I was very excited about the film.

The initial thought it, this is our richie and eddie, as the opening sequences are pure them. As the film moves on they are slightly different in their characters, but still very amusing.

The movie has alot of classic material and is very very funny in my opinion. I enjoy the majority of the movie. I do feel that the movie could have been bottom like, however would that have worked on the big screen? I think they refined the film to make sure it would slightly fit a different audience perhaps.

However there are some awesome gags in this movie, the movie is soo funny but if people are not sure of it on first watch, then i suggest watching it a few more times, because you will start to see different things.

I personally believe that slap stick comedy cannot be analysed because when you look at it, it is just their to make you laugh, it isnt suppose to be clever or anything, it is just someone acting an idiot to make you laugh. And i think it works perfectly.

All in all a great movie to chill out and laugh at.

Fair points, definitely, but I've always regarded the work of Mayall and Edmondson as being more than just slapstick. They have amazing dialogue sequences and exchanges that keep repeating themselves in your head until you have no choice but to laugh out loud in public or the work place. Sure, there's plenty of vioence but I think that it's all well balanced.
