Whatever happened to the actor who played Benjy?

After playing this role the actor appears uncredited in an episode of Movin' On in 1974 and then simply disappears. Is it possible that this Chris Valentine is the same Chris Valentine who played in the Canadian Hockey league from 1979 to 1996, retiring as a coach in 2002? Take a look at a picture of him with actor Dennis Hinnes in a press photo from 1972:

Is this is the same guy? Did the former child actor decide to leave acting and become a successful hockey player? It seems quite likely to me. To my eyes the facial deformation of the two smiles are very similar as are the eyes, taking into account the pictures are about 5 years apart from each other.
