My Impressions

I love this film. For me it has a perfect combination of gently
surreal humour with a rather sad, slightly dark, but touching
underlying story.

A rather oppressive father, who works as an opportunist newspaper
photographer in a small Belgium town, bullies his son into an attempt
at breaking the world record for the number of times of opening and
closing a door in 24 hours. Yes, I did say opeining and closing a
door! After the record breaking attempt an incident forces the
family to re-evaluate their prorities.

Mariage uses this bizarre narrative to create a carefully paced study
of obsession, family dynamics, and personal freedom.

A real gem of a film.

Highly recommended.
