Yes, as the other poster said, watch it again.
It was a follower of Christ who mutilated his (memory fading I may have this wrong) son's body and put it in a mock grave like Jesus' and asked God to treat his son like He did Jesus' (ie - ascend to heaven).
It's pretty simple really.

I really liked that we the audience learned one way or the other but the characters never did. A little like the novel "Pharoah" about Moses :)
