Missing scenes (kind of)...

Just seen this again for the first time since I saw it when it was aired. I was only 6 at the time and it scared the living daylights out of me. Had trouble sleeping that night for sure... Anyway, I recall a couple of scenes that don't seem to be in the DVD, however I realise these could just be false memories as they are variants on other parts of the show.

*Probable SPOILERS below*

First was a scene where one of the CCTV cameras pans downward to the door of the sisters' bedroom and the door is slightly ajar. In the crack near the floor one can see Suzanne's eye peering from the crack, wide open, and that part of her face all scratched up. I realise this could be a combination of the scenes where the camera sees Suzanne hoaxing the banging noises and also the scene where she is in the corner of the lounge and her mum is in front, so the camera zooms in on her obscured face.

Second was a scene where a glass table in the kitchen explodes after someone puts a cup on it. This happens just after the part where the drawings are found scattered across the floor. This is probably a distorted memory of the phone call which describes the same thing.

I can see where my memories have become skewed, but I find it bizarre because those two were the most vivid memories I had of the programme but to find neither of them present was a little shocking. The first one especially, with the eye, was an image that haunted me for years - clearly quite erroneously. But just to grasp at tiny straws nonetheless: were these scenes perhaps present and then removed from the DVD? Haha...

Well, you were only six years old, and no source I've ever come across has talked of scenes being deleted - actually the DVD has a commentary track, and whilst I haven't seen that version yet I should have thought the director would have noted any deletions there. Moreover, the film present on the DVD is exactly the same length as the film as transmitted, so unless they added in extra scenes in place of the ones you reckon they took out, it must be the same film.

As far as the scene woth the eye is concerned - you're more likely to be remembering seeing Suzanne's scratched face after the covers are pulled away from her.

I can confirm that the DVD does have missing scenes.. I just watched it again after the original broadcast.

Another scene I was suprised to see removed - reviewing the video footage to see pipes from behind the curtain which was caught by the camera man when panning the room, and they only came back to it after a phone call mentioning it later in the show (I don't mean the footage at the start either from a previous occasion).

I also think there were more phone calls.

The program was on TV for hours so the DVD must be edited down somewhat. :(

Anyone know where to obtain the full version?

There are no missing scenes as far as I can tell.
I remember the Pipes/curtain footage from the original broadcast well, and I believe it is identical to the DVD version.
Watching it as a young teenager at the time, I agree that it felt that it went on for longer than it did, perhaps this was due to Michael Parkinson's comment that they were delaying the following programme and staying on air?
Unless there's any proof to say otherwise, I believe that the DVD version is exactly the same as the original broadcast.

As I was fortunate enough to record this at the time of broadcast (I thought it was real before it was on and recorded it just in case something 'happened'), I can tell you that the DVD is exactly the same as the broadcast version - nothing added and nothing taken away.

If there were any deleted scenes, they never even made it into the initial broadcast.

i havnt seen this since it was originally aired, so my memories of the show may be distorted but i definately remember the table story ONLY being told from a call it, i have no memory of it happening in the show. dont remember the eye scene you mention. ive just orderd the DVD mainly for the commentary track.
