*"Mercedes Mon Amour" (or "Fikrimin Ince Gülü" in Turkish) is a film that was shot between 1987 and 1992, for 5 years. I do not know why it took so long to shoot this film, but as far as I remember they had some problems with visas of countries like Germany and Bulgary.
*This film is the last film of dentist Tunc Okan, who (I think) still working as a dentist in Belgium. Main actor Ilyas Salman who is a very good comedian vowed that he will never make a film again, after this shooting process of 5 years. And he never did. He only played in a TV-Serie named "Three Friends" as a supporting actor, but this TV-Serie did not last for a long time.
*Tunc Okan began shooting in the beginning of 1987 and ended in 1992. The film was shown in Turkey in 1992 and won "Golden Orange" awards in Antalya Film Festival (the biggest film festival in Turkey) for best 2nd film, best editing, best script, best director. Editor Andre Goiltier is the only foreign editor who had won this "Golden Orange" award in Antalya Film Festival for editing.
Ilyas Salman won an award for his acting in Ankara Film Festival.
There are many German and French actors playing in the film.
*The film is based on the novel of Adalet Agaoglu, a famous writer/novelist. She did not accept the offer of Tunc Okan (director) to write the screenplay together, so an actor and script writer Macit Koper wrote the screenplay instead, and won the best script award in Antalya Film Festival.
*German-French TV "Arté" is often screening the film with subtitles.
*Bayram, the main character calls his Mercedes "Balkiz". "Balkiz" means "honey-daughter" as his Mercedes is in the colour of honey.
*The role of Bayram was first offered to Kemal Sunal in early 1980s. But in 1987, he said that he is too old for the role of Bayram.
*In the middle of shooting, Ilyas Salman said that he will quit the job. Tunc Okan stopped shooting and told Salman that he will call Kemal Sunal, Ugur Yucel and Sener Sen to accept the role. Actually he wouldn't because Sener Sen and Kemal Sunal were too old to accept it. He was trying to encourage Salman to continue his job.
*In 18 years time, Tunc Okan directed only 3 movies. Otobus (the Bus-1974), Cumartesi Cumartesi (Saturday, Saturday-1984) and Fikrimin Ince Gulu (Yellow Mercedes-1992).
*Serra Yilmaz who is playing the custom officer in one of the scenes played in films of Ferzan Ozpetek, Turkish director living in Italy.
*Tunc Okan first wanted to use Turkish Classical Music in the film, mainly the song "Fikrimin Ince Gulu" but later on he thought it would be boring to use classical Turkish music and called Vladimir Cosma to compose the film's main theme and other musics.
*Many people claim that Tunc Okan is playing in the film as a truck driver. But the truck driver is not Tunc Okan. Tunc Okan played only in one of his three films, Cumartesi-Cumartesi (1984).
*The film was supposed to win another Golden Orange award for best make-up. But the jury thought that there was a real fight between Salman and the truck driver. The truck driver beats Salman and there are traces on his face. They thought this was real. But it was not.
*The original cut of the film was lasting for 135 minutes. The final cut is 95 minutes.
