The Beverly Appreciation Thread

Did anyone else just love Beverly in this movie? She was just the right amount of earthiness, sass, world-weariness, and open-mindedness (taking on this weirdo's play, then consoling him when he has a breakdown).

She had some of the best lines and best delivery too.

Makes me wanna go put on a one-night only play, with a sassy Hispanic middle-aged lady lol.

I LOVE Beverly in this film so glad someone else love her too. Lupe Ontiveros just makes that character. Mike White admits he did not write Beverley as specifically being Hispanic but was delighted with Lupe's performance. You have to feel for Lupe always getting typecast as a maid (she played a maid over 20 times in films such as the goonies/ as good as it gets) -it took a Hispanic director Miguel Arteta to see her great potential. RIP Lupe

Thanks for the quick response. Yeah, Lupe was awesome and I've always enjoyed her work too.

I pretty much like every scene that she's in, in this movie. Like I said, it's all her traits: earthy, sassy, open-minded, opinionated.

The whole cast is very good overall. Funny, interesting, and human.
