N****** vs. Black people
I'm curious about what others think about Rock's distinction between n******s and Black people. Is this sheer comedic genius or does it lack social responsibility to some extent?

Rock had that crowd in the palm of his hand, they were loving him. Then he just drops the bomb, the crowd nearly turns on him and he brings 'em right back.
He must have felt a strong need to make that statement 'cause he took a huge gamble to do it.

... I used the original poster's subject-line, that is all. This person was only making reference to terms first used by Chris Rock, himself. No-one has called anybody anything, so far, we were just agreeing with the general points Chris made, in his act...

Is this similar to comparing the difference between rednecks and white people?
By the way, what Rock said was not new, but a tongue-in-cheek in-joke that many Blacks only said among themselves. but with the understanding that society really did not perceive any difference and that we were really all in the same boat.
All Chris did was break and dissed that unspoken rule.
Truer words were hardly spoken. You can have a grand time with some social brothers and sisters(ie Black People). *beep* will mess something up every time. And if you're familiar with the history of the word, then that part of his routine makes even more sense.
What kills me is that some individuals feel that you're trying to advocate white superiority if you tell them that they shouldn't call each other n**ggas. I don't understand it. Wasn't that word picked up from racist white slaveholders, who used it to keep their slaves subdued?
So how is it's dismissal advocating white supremacy? That was the wildest thing I had heard in a while.

it's the truth. If you are black, live in the ghetto around n's & your trying to do something for yourself you would know how it feels to be put in the stereotype that your no good & will never be BY TOTAL STARNGERS & by EVERYBODY. The most over used words in the world are "that black guy" or" "some black dude" and it hurts. Blavk people did not get angry at chris for telling the truth. N's did.

ROFL it all depends on who ya calling the n word. If it's obviously done in jest it's ok, but if it's done in a nasty manner it's time for a beat down.
I lived in Detroit for quite a few years and know better. I now live in Hawaii and the distinction is very similar with the white people and the Hawaiians. The Hawaiians call white people Haoles which is considered a derogatory remark to some if used in the wrong way. Haole simply means white person. It's all in the way you do it.

Its a very true and serious thing amongst Black people.
"Fuggedabout Joe the Plumber, what about Don the Jeweler?".
That routine was used to isolate the "n-word" and analyze it to a degree. I was a 13-year old kid when I first heard that bit; and it truly changed my outlook about how to judge people. That bit also made me look up that word in the dictionary. One of the definitions of the "n-word" I read was: A socially disadvantaged class of persons. That definition applies to people of all colors. If you're a lazy, ignorant piece of sh!t who chooses to stay that way and yet you continue to brag about trivial, everyday responsibilities like you just cured cancer or something, then you're a ni**er no matter what color you are - white, brown, purple, green, blue, whatever.
There is a right and a wrong in the Universe and that distinction is not very difficult to make.
