Why is it that in several heist movies.....

.....those commiting the robbery DON'T wear gloves and touch everything in sight? That really grates my cheese.

Another thing, the fact that these guys (and a gal) got away with the booty is a miracle in and of itself. The loud jackhammer, the public-accessible walkie-talkie frequency, and hanging around waiting to get busted are a few of the things that I thought were easily avoidable even in those days.

And another, another thing. Why are characters like Terry Leather shown to be living it up after all is settled? I'd be investing that much loot rather than burning it on material distractions. And what sort of people will the children turn out to be (much less keep quiet about) given the fact that Daddy struck it rich around the time of a robbery?

The Colonel didn't need to be down in the basement helping with the dig and Eddie didn't need to be on surveillance. The former could have been pretending to set up the store while the latter could have helped with the tunneling.

I know the producers have creative license and it is necessary for dramatic effect, but at the ripe old age of 55, I've seen enough stupidity in movies. I don't know, perhaps I'm being harsh toward a picture which is based on a true story.

The story generally, and these elements in particular, are actually based on the very real Baker Street robbery:

Are there any non-noisy ways of digging such a hole? And who wouldn't be "living it up" a bit after a score like this? Anyways, they were basically supposed to be amateurs with no prior experience with similar "jobs", so it's understandable they might make some mistakes along the way.
