Robert Forster’s portrayal of Eddie

With his usual cool and placid demeanor….Forster makes Eddie a very sympathetic and interesting character.

Particularly the scene towards the end when he explains to Katie that he’s going to lose his house…..he says it with such subdued and stoic sadness…a man resigned to his fate.

Forster was good at playing such characters…the types who could keep their pain to themselves and soldier on…maintaining their dignity throughout.

Characters that through quiet determination and low key self confidence get a long overdue win at the end.
