I was reading castaways of the flying dutchman when I realized a similarity. Three very main characters in the redwall series are named after the Gospelmakers.
Matthew=Matthias
Mark=Martin
Luke=Luke
But I couldn't think of one for John, except John Churchmouse but he isnt a major character
In the Bible, Matthias wasn't a gospelmaker. He was an apostle chosen to fill up Judas Iscariot's place.

He knows. He was pointing out similarities, not actual identical names. "Martin" isn't the same as "Mark" either. ;-)
I'm not sure if there's anything to that...I remember reading somewhere in one of the long Q&A things with Jaques on redwall.org about how he didn't actually intend to have so many M names (Martin, Matthias, Mattimeo (and all three names his stands for!), Mara, Mariel, etc), but something about Matthias being a biblical name. I think it was mostly choosen because it sounded "strong". :)
