Pets
Has anyone ever named a pet after a Redwall character?
I personally have a cat named Taggerung :) She does live up to the name.

Yeah. I think the series is about to go out with a whimper in a year or two.

i've read the first seven books...does it get worse from there? i'm waiting till it's all said and done before i try to read them again.

Yes. Only the last third of Book 9 is readable because things actually happen. Best thing to do is find summaries online that will tell you what happens in the story without the excrutiatingly pointless details. Some of the reviews for Crossroads of Twilight on Amaazon.com (average rating: 1 1/2 star) sum up the experience pretty well.
I DID like the first 6 books a lot, but it deteriorated pretty bad.

do you think the series will end at 12 books???
shareI read somewhere recently that it would end w/ 12 but I could be wrong...13 would be a more significant number i guess...

yeah? if it makes it to 13 it wouldn't be on purpose. i remember back in the day that there was only supposed to be 10 books. i wish he would finish them up...despite the fact he drags everything out i want to read them all from start to finish. did you read that prequel New Spring?
shareNot yet, it's something I may read after the series is finished, if I'm still interested then. I just keep gettin annoyed with the constant detours from the main storyline. Actually I'm much more interested in A Song of Ice & Fire (George RR Martin), which I'm currently rereading, than WOT.

have you ever read anything by Dan Simmons, or do you just stick to fantasy books?
shareI've never heard of Dan Simmons. Probably 60-70% of my fiction reading ends up being something related to the scifi/fantasy genre. What's he written?

he's all over the place...as for scifi/fantasy...he wrote the Hyperion Cantos series (Hyperion, The Fall of Hyperion, Endymion, The Rise of Endymion), which is set about a 1000 years from now give or take with a heavy John Keats influence (though i admit i've read nothing from Keats). he also wrote Ilium and Olympos, which is set maybe 3000 years into the future and he mixes in The Iliad and the Odyssey with Shakespeare's The Tempest. they're great books, but they can be kinda hard to understand at spots too.
