Anticlimax Roadshow

So, this 'first ever £1M valuation' they've been hyping turned out to be a prototype of The Angel of The North, owned by Gateshead council? The councilor they sent with it looked completely unsurprised at the valuation, and the whole thing was basically a 'bait & switch' to attract viewers. Pathetic.

The shame of it was that many of the items valued in the low thousands or less were much more exciting and interesting; for example the jewellery smuggled out of Russia after the revolution, the cypress chest, or the Edison phonograph.

I wouldn't exactly call The Angel of the North or it's prototype an antique!

Well, they've had lots of things over the years that haven't met the common definition of "antique" (an object over 100 years old), it would probably be more accurate (if a bit clunky) to call the show Antiques, Collectibles and Curios Roadshow.
