Republican Convention 2016

I remember in 2008, a lot of discussion on this board, as Obama and Clinton contested a tight Democrat primary race, how uncanny it was that the writers of the West Wing predicted a contested Democratic Convention.

Do you think the writers - in their wildest unlikely, improbable dreams - ever contemplated a Republican Convention when the power brokers of the party planned to dump the presumptive candidate?

WOW!

The last few elections have hardly received any prime time TV coverage, but this year could certainly be more exciting.

I consider Donald Trump the greatest threat to our country ever. Most threats have come from the outside, but this threat is from within. As a Democrat, I wish my party was coming up with a candidate that I feel had a stronger grip on things.

Trump is not the kind of person who I would want to be in the same room with, much less representing my country. I would think that his inability to support the party's platform should be enough as to not have him be the party's candidate. I would think that those who voted for Trump would have the lack of insight as those who supported Hitler and Mussolini.

I am hoping that we will see if the Republicans let themselves be purchased by this hate monger. If they go down without a fight, it is time for a major split.

All the world is a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.

We saw what happened, they were all cowards and supported Trump!

@Speranza9 If a West Wing writer had come up with a storyline like 2016's GOP convention, they would've been laughed out of the room.

What about now?
