These movies are based on the Thor of Norse mythology, not on the Marvel comics superhero. This is one of countless 'Conan' rip-offs, and actually it is one of the better ones.

The Marvel comics superhero is the one based on Thor of Norse mythology. Thor the Conqueror, however, is not based on anything from Norse mythology.
