Does Noah have Asperger Syndrome?

I watched THE SIMPLE LIFE OF NOAH DEARBORN today. Does Noah have asperger syndrome?

reply

No he dont. I think your going to far into a simple film.

He matches many of the symptoms. In addition to the social dimension, people afflicted often hyperfocus their lives around a single thing and drive out everything else. Noah's inability to touch his dog matches as well.

The only part that doesn't match is that signs of aspergers disappear with age as people learn to adapt and find alternate mechanisms to learn the skills that normal people were born with. That's why aspergers is mosty seen in children, not adults.

I know this is an old thread, but what is wrong with a person wanting to be alone? I grew up on a farm, and being alone is what my family seems to do best. My grandma will be 100 in a couple of months and does just fine on her own. My mother lives alone on her farm and rarely goes out. My kids are grown, and I work about 60 hours a week, so I can't get enough alone time.

I think "normal" is what you make it. I have a masters degree in computer science and another degree in math. Those are subjects loners like. Like Noah I'm happy with what I have, and I feel sorry for anyone who tries to take away my 200 acres.

Go Noah!

I totally agree with jit123. What is wrong with a person wanting to be alone?
Watching the scenes with those doctors questioning Noah made me sad andcsick.

No, he's a perfect example of a "Magical Black Man"

I am not a doctor but have read a lot of psychology literature. That does not make me a doctor anyway. But I can have an estimation and opinion on the subject no less than the opener of this thread.
I believe the question posed by Wolfman316 is the pure example of very shallow understanding of terminology. Even a glance on symptoms of supposed to be illness of Noah shows no connection to the dog treatment of Noah or his attitude in life and society.
Let me be more clear: the same would be if you read a newspaper article about a few signs of a flue and decide to make your diagnose on a specific case. Wolfman decided to even open a question on that diagnose on this site.
Once upon a time, movies have been considered an art. They were often intended to convey deep messages to the public. Although that is mostly forgotten art, especially in Hollywood, the movie in question is the perfect example of A PIECE OF ART. That has nothing to do even if the movie contain the clear case of supposed to be "illness".
I somehow feel that lowering the deep messages of this movie to the medical diagnosis of series illness is very unacceptable, to say at least. That is so because even if character Noah has been a clear case of deeply mentally disturbed person, which he has not been, the noble messages presented in movie are far more outstanding in the movie than any possible illness.
