Significance of the title?

I was trying to figure this out throughout the entire movie, but I couldn't really grasp it. The only thing I came up with is that maybe it's because Beverly made revelations and huge changes in her life when she was traveling with...well, boys. Like when her and Jason finally understood each other and she let him go to Indiana, and when her father picked her up at the end.

Does anyone know what the title means? It's probably not as literal as I made it out to be, haha.

That's a lot deeper than what I thought it meant, I thought it meant that she just got pregnant from that car ride where she was later caught by her dad, so it was like one car ride with a boy can change everything

That's what I got from it too. She quotes something like to her son too. She says how one day can change your life.
