3.9 Come On

Maybe the 3.9 is just. This movie is called "Ninja Checkmate" and it features no Ninjas at all. But the Ghost Face Killer was a worthy villain. I gave this movie a 7. I highly recommend if you have nothing to watch on a Friday night.

I agree, the Ghost Face Killer is one of the best kung fu villains of all time and Lee Yi Min is on his best form in this flick, the final fight is phenomenal. The Mystery Of Chessboxing is a much better title than Ninja Checkmate though. Anyone who likes this film should check out Seven Grandmasters, which was also directed by Joseph Kuo and features many of the same cast.

Very good ol school movie, with some funny parts,like the whole steal one rice grain thing, i would give it a 8 outta 10, everything was just Fantabulous (Fantastic and Fabolous).Anyone know any other good old school kung fu movies i could get i have seen quite a few now,wanna see more,but i like the oldies bcuz to me they are much better then these new kung fu movies;that's just me though.

I agree. Older kung-fu movies rule. I just bought Ninja Checkmate and The 7 Grandmasters. (I haven't gotten the chance to watch Ninja Checkmate though.) I really like Jackie Chan's old ones like "Shaolin Wooden Men." How do you think this movie stacks up to Chan? Way better? What do you think?

Bear in mind I have been into Kung-fu movies for a total of 3 weeks now. I'm no buff when it comes to this subject.

ten year old comment but here goes;

Master of the Flying Guillotine

One Armed Swordsman (any and all)

Drunken Master (old Jackie Chan)

Snake in Eagles Shadow (old Jackie Chan)

Half a Loaf of Kung Fu (really dorky Jackie Chan)

Fearless Hyena (old Jackie Chan, his old movies are pretty good!)

18 Bronzemen

8 Strikes of the Wildcat

The Five Deadly Venoms

Crippled Avengers

I could go on...

Try "Born Invincible" by Kuo too. It's wonderfully silly and was my entry point into the world of Kung Fu movies...
