why did they make santen so annoying???

why did they make santen so annoying??? i found it so hard to have any sympathy for santen. he was such an a**hole that he kind of got what was coming to him. i didn't shed a tear when he went off that cliff.

maybe it is just me but i can't stand guys who think they are such hot sh*t and they make a point of constantly saying how great they are, and as if that isn't bad enough, they don't just stop there, but also feel the need to put someone else down.

pettengill deserved an apology from santen for screwing up on landing but santen was too much of a douche and bully to admit his mistake. in stressful situations, probably not a good idea to bully or put others down because they can reach a breaking point as seen in the film. in fact i'm surprised all of the guys didn't grab santen and throw him off the cliff.

pettengil could even claim temporarly insanity because of santen constantly running his mouth off and trying to be mr. big shot. strangely santen didn't act so tough as he was losing his grip to the cliff. he looked pretty scared. where was mr. tough guy then? oh yeah sh*ting in his spacesuit like the wuss he is.

perhaps more appropriately santen deserved a serious beating, not to be pushed off the cliff.

since he screwed up the landing on to mars it would have been funny if pettengill yelled to santen as he fell: "i know you'll make a better landing this time, a**hole!"

True, but how many times has Santen ever tried to land on MARS???..That was his first...like he said....Pettingil knew there were risks.

reply

They probably made him so unlike able to justify his death. I don't much care for Bratt anyway so no justification was needed for me. LoL!

reply

Agree that that was a mistake.

But I'm also not entirely sure why Santen got so much blame for the landing. They approach and landing occurred under extreme duress with all kinds of systems failures, and part of the ship being destroyed. So it's hard to see how it was his fault.

Petengil was really the only one to give him crap about it, and you saw how Santen reacted to him. He didn't have a lot of respect for the guy whatsoever.
