Why'd Matthew (Rhys Ifans) shoot Ray?

Wasn't he trying to hit Johnny, the bullets kept hitting walls and tables near him, but I didn't see him run past Ray, so why did Ray Burdis get shot?

Jonifer is running through the room and Rhys is taking random aim, he is shooting and missing. Ray and the wife are finally pregnant and happy so its just an ironic accident. It also helps to set up the final scene where North and South London reach a deal and part ways as friends

reply

he didn't intend to shoot ray, but because he missed jonny so many times my guess he was satisfied with getting at least someone from the other firm, although it wasn't jonny
