whats the deal with the beginning and the ending
when the show starts it has 10 minetes with george as a dectetecve well my question is why did they do that!

Actually, "they" didn't do it; George did I'm sure. He was a writer and was just being creative and used some of his leftover scenes and observations and used it as a bookend to the stand-up show. Being on HBO in that time period always had a little something different about it.
