Best Movie ever

Truly.

Seriously, i really hope you don`t mean that. This is THE biggest piece of crap i have ever seen, it sucked 2 hours out of my life i desperatly want back. This movie isn`t worth the paper that the movie cover is made of. Sorry if i`m being a little harsh, but come on.. this reeks like the excrement of a week of a beans and broccoli only diet.

Why was it even dubbed ? that just stupid, every actor in this movie is fluid in english, so why dub it TO english ?
the time periods in the movie change almost at the same rate as Britney Spears`s chest size and the plot is just plain bad and hard to follow.

If you are gonna see every movie every movie that has ever been made, make sure to leave this one out, it sucks 2 hours out of your life that you would rather have spent on watching grass grow.
This is just my thoughts on the movie.

yep, this movie sucked. i watched it because: (a) i wanted to see an awesome Christopher Lambert flick and (b) i was hoping this movie would do Vercingetorix justice. wrong on both accounts.
and do yourself a favor. if you thought this movie was bad, do NOT see Lambert's Beowulf. yet another flaming piece of crap.

Hello Zergkhan, I have to say that I agree with JX and I to think that Braveheart sucked and I can say that I have a proper movie education. Vercingetorix sucked more than Braveheart though.

Have fun

reply

i have never seen vercingetorix, but i do know of his exploits. However when reading these posts i saw "Braveheart sucked..." WTF mate? braveheart did not suck, it was delightful. It really pisses me off when people say that historical movies are boring, maybe because they are historical. History is full of drama violence and lust, not nonstop action. and to JX no way in hell did Braveheart suck more than this movie, so you antihistorian can go *beep* yourself.

Greetings to you Aaronlippke,

First thing, I am historian, not because I think I am good in history, but because I studied in history. So give the antihistorian title to someone else please.

Historical movies are good, the only thing is that you have to be careful about the veracity of the content. Sometimes people give too much credits to the facts presented in historical movies. But I still like very much historical movies.

About Braveheart, I hate this movie for so much reasons, and one is the aura that is surrounding it, making it untouchable, you can't criticize this movie without being ostracized.

What is it with that realy realy bad movie anyway. The editing is so bad (and I am not talking about the fabulous amount of goofs), the battle scenes are so unbelievable and about Gibson, He can be a good actor only if he is well directed, and since he is directing the movie, I believe he can't be well directed.

Another thing, Braveheart is in many way anachronistic, so when you say that people are anti-historian, well I do believe you should review your historical notions.

One last thing that I find hilarious, you are here to defend a movie that you didn't even see.

So who do you think should go *beep* himself, to use your own TLC words?

Have fun

Braveheart was good as a movie, but Wallace was played too soft. He was a viscious man. A good person to have on your side in a fight, but a terrible enemy. And I think his death was under represented. The movie made it seem relatively quick, but the English were not so merciful to Wallace.

reply

''Proper'' movie education. :D

What crappy school did you go to?

You may not like Braveheart's story, but the music, cinematography, acting, action, etc, is all amazing.

It's kinda out of context now that an administrator erased the previous message. I was just citing the other guy's expression I guess. Beats me if I remember what it was all about though.

I wrote on that board 6 years ago. You can see the date written beside my login name on the board. I wouldn't say the same thing if I was writing on the same subject today. I wouldn't say Braveheart is boring, it's kind of entertaining, but it is definitely not a good movie.

Nevertheless, I could say I went to my own film school. You learn a lot by making your own films. Even independent 2-bucks-a-piece-movies help you learn to enjoy more styles of films, and in a different way. You analyse films differently when you start to see what is involve in the production process, from writing to projection. And Hollywood Gossips doesn't count as a part of the production process.

Make movies, good or bad, but make movies.

Take care

Do not look into the lens and ruin the shot or you will be shot

reply

Yeah, I saw the date. I'm surprised you responded this quickly. :P

But, here you go again, stating opinions as facts: ''but it is definitely not a good movie''. IT IS, to lots of people, lots of critics, and the academy awards.

Which are all human beings stating their opinions ;)

Yeah I respond quickly :) Even if I am not here as often as I use to, I still like to come and see what people say on these boards. And when someone answers to one of my old interventions, it's like a travel back in time. Anyway, I love to discuss about movies. It's FUUUUUUUNNN!!!!

You were talking about the music in Braveheart which is quite good I agree. Can you state 5 great american movie scores ? (I love those Top five things like in High Fidelity)

Anyway, these are five I have in mind right now (not a top 5, but something like that):
Wyatt Earp
The Last Samurai
Batman (1989)
Last of the Mohicans
Machete (saw it Saturday and I was blown away by the cool music)

Take care.

Do not look into the lens and ruin the shot or you will be shot

reply

Heh, alright.

Last of the Mohicans is a good one. Have yet to see Machete. Never heard about Wyatt Earp. :o

For the others, I pick Requiem for a Dream, The Green Mile, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Lion King (no joke, listen to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhXFCaU92mQ).

Edit: Forgot about Braveheart. Switching it with The Green Mile. :P

reply

Try this for Wyatt Earp : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ew1SW_QE6qI

Don't expect much from the movie if you ever watch it. I said it before and I am saying it again, the movie is worth the shot mainly for the music and the shootouts. The rest is kinda cheesy (not as cheesy as Tombstone, but still pretty cheesy).

True, The Lion King was something of a bomb in the cinema industry when it came out. It was great visually, the story was cool, the score was very nice too.

For the Green Mile, I just listened to a little bit of the theme music and I have to admit that it is wonderful. Really Melodious compared to the epic kind like Wyatt Earp or Braveheart or Last of the Mohicans... You get the point.

Ok, now I just relistened at the theme of Pan's Labyrinth and I must say that you had some great hits in your choices.

Non-american Scores you must listen at least once in your life :
Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (Morricone)
Blue, White and Red (Preisner)
Amelie Poulain and Goodbye Lenin (Yann Tiersen)
All the Westerns by Morricone... of course.

D'you like Westerns ? I freakin' do !!!

Do not look into the lens and ruin the shot or you will be shot

reply

Amelie and Cinema Paradiso are amazing.

To be honest, I don't really like westerns. But I'll try to check out some of Morricone's.
If they are anything like Cinema Paradiso, they shouldn't disappoint.

What was so bad about this movie? I loved it. I didnt manage to see the end though cuz I fell asleep. I catched in on HBO when it was on like at 3 AM. Anyway I loved it so much that I just won an auction for it on ebay for a dollar...

reply

Ok...

I read a review for this movie that said "It's like another version of Braveheart - directed by Ed Wood".
I couldn't have said it better myself.

what the hell are you all talking bout!
this movie kicks ass! totally!

reply

I finally got the dvd from ebay. I just finished watching it in its entirety and this is one of the greatest films of all time. I see nothing at fault here. Everyone here who complains doesnt give any reason for it. They all just say it sucks. It would help understanding one's opinions if they give a reason for it...

reply

Over all I thought it was an alright movie. Nothing extraordinary, but a good solid movie. What I love though is just how truely cheaply made it was. When the Roman legions are lining up for the final battle did the directors actually think we would not notice that they kept showing the EXACT same group of troops walking, just the film was flipped over creating a mirror image?

Pretty cheap.... unless of course they told the actors to all look the same, but to only have all their equipment on the OTHER side for each shot....

but still, an ok movie.

reply

I have just one question:

Are you serious when you say that this is a great movie?

You want reasons why this movie is bad? OK, here goes:

No character development

Poorly filmed battle scenes

Really bad dialog

Truly awful acting

Look, if one person says it's a bad movie, you can pretty much ignore that one person. When a movie has the honor of being included in the Top 100 worst films (#49, I believe)...get a clue.

But, to each his or her own.

reply

this movie is no doubt the greatest so bad its good movies ever. the reason it got #49 was maybe because many people feel the same way. This was no doubt the most poorly done film I have ever seen but I laughed my ass off.

reply

What!? The drugs in your town must be much better than the ones here...this movie reeked! Seriously, you have to be messing with us because no fan of Pantera (that's what I'm assuming by the handle) could sit through this slow-ass movie and not freak out from boredom and/or insanity.

I've seen films about growing fungus that are more exciting than this movie. No basis in history, setting, cinematics, design, writing...it truly sucked.

reply

It was a bad sign when the rented tape was only half viewed. This was the WORST MOVIE EVER. The director should have his eyes put out and made never to get near a camera again. This is coming from a person who almost never entirely hates ANY film. Vercingatorix is probably rolling in his grave at Chris Lambert portraying him. Lambert looked about as heroic and menacing as a 5 year old with a squirt gun with that bad wig on.

reply

If by best movie ever, you mean the worst, then yes, you're right. I'm not unqualified to watch or judge film just because I think this is the worst movie I've ever seen. The dialogue was terrible. The storyline incoherent(not so much confusing or hard to follow, just incoherent). The battle scenes cheap and poorly directed. The editing abominable. I have lost two hours of my life on this film...oh well, I'll lose a lot more, I suppose.

Let's make it very very clear!

This movie is utter crap!

BRAVEHEART is a master piece!

reply

[deleted]

It wasn't very good, not as bad as they put it at, but still pretty bad. I have seen far worse in my life.

reply

This film was terrible, I'm glad I watched it on t.v! But about Braveheart, that was a truly horrible film, it was incredibly historically inaccurate, I mean where do you start with that film! Some of the best parts are, Wallace attacking York, his campaign never made it out of Scotland!, or how about his affair with the Princess of Wales, who at Wallace's time was a baby, or the part that seriously topped the cake, the Irish joining the Scots, that was utterly ridiculous!

reply

How a hell can someone say this movie was better than Braveheart?
About this movie, we need only to say that everything is wrong (specially the wigs, i think the director saw Asterix and thought that it was real).
About Braveheart, it should belong to the 100 best movies ever. About the historical (in)accuracy, come on guys? This is a movie not a documentary. Do you want to learn history? Go to school. If the director had made it like it really was it would have been totally, painfully boring.

reply

Funniest thread ever. Seriously, the movie sucked so much ass I cannot find the words to describe it.
To those of you who prefered it over Braveheart, enlighten me please.

I swear, I love myself more than anyone I know. It's amazing.

reply

To say a historically accurate version of Braveheart would be boring in not entirely accurate, as it is purely a matter of opinion. Wallace was one of the biggest bada$$es in history. THe only problem is that there are so few sources from his time, and so little is known about his early life that an accurate representation is impossible.

reply

Chuck Norris could kill William Wallace with a roundhouse kick to the nuts while reading the book, "Amateur historians who think they know what makes a good film."

I studied history for my master's degree and I think Braveheart is great action flick. Predictable? Sure. Historically accurate? Who gives a damn? Movies entertain and the film delivers.

reply

Oh, I WISH they would make good historical films because I believe history is far more dramatic than anything that comes out of Hollywood or any other distribution. The changes made are supposedly for artistic reasons but in almost every case they detract from what is an otherwise exciting account. You don't have to be even an amateur historian to be able to pick out what is history and what is Hollywood, since Hollywood is so inferior to the former.
I salivated when I heard about Vercingetorix as much as I did when I first heard about The Patriot, Alexander, Pearl Harbor, or (alas) Braveheart. I found ALL of those movies were horrible, all the more criminal because of the hopes they raised that the subjects would get the proper treatment they deserve. What's so painful is to think of the lost opportunities...we may have to wait a whole generation for someone else to take another crack at it. And I don't have high hopes because the next generation is actually being shown the above-mentioned cartoons in history classes. And yes, I use the word cartoons with precision.
I'm still perplexed as to WHY they screw around with what would be BOTH dramatic and true. The Patriot told bald-faced lies when the truth would have been at NO expense to the "great action" you want. Likewise Braveheart's comic-book portrayal of King Edward, which added NOTHING to the drama. I'm not complaining about pedantic details, I'm complaining about making changes that take serious, dramatic, exciting confrontations and turn them into puppet-shows for young teens. Like I said, history did it better and with much more edge-of-the-seat excitement than that film did. I think the Battle of Stirling Bridge would have been a lot more exciting had the movie included a bridge. The English certainly had their share of drama because of it...
You want great action flicks? So do I, and that is NOT incompatible with a good historical film. Why do you think action is at the cost of history when both are easily shown? They are only incompatible when they insist on making the hero a "Go ahead, make my day!" type to appeal to the children in the audience and to get a cheer out of the teenagers.
