Worth Watching for a fan of Neon Rider?

Many of my fellow Canadians will remember the Winston Rekert series "Neon Rider" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098869/), about.... a guy who has a ranch in BC and runs a program for troubled teens - taking them off the streets and out of troubled homes in Vancouver and allowing them to overcome their problems while working on the ranch.

This series, frankly sounds like a Neon Rider rip-off for the American market. Truth be told, everytime I see American shows that were "inspired" or "based-on" or just plain ripped-off of really good shows from other countries - the copies are never as good as the original.

Having seen Neon Rider (MANY times - taped all the seasons - was a big fan), should I bother with this version?
Does it stand on it's own?
