Would Higher Ground Be The Same With Different Characters?

The subject said it all. I mean, Hayden did Star Wars and I don't think he'll be coming back, but do you guys think that it would be the same, or better, if they made a new season with new characters?

Do you mean completely new characters or new actors to play the old characters?

Unfortunately, I don't think the show was popular enough for them to want to try. Back then the Family Channel didn't have much new programming, and I think this just got lost in the sea of Cable TV. Now, Family channel has gone through Family Channel --> Fox Family Channel --> ABC Family Channel change. Their new programming all seems to tend towards the overly melodramatic side of things. "Evvvvvrything in Kris Furrilo's life is going wrong" and in the off season for that we have "Evvvvvrything in Cassie's life is going wrong" and we've probably had "Evvvvvrything in Kyle's life is going wrong" as well. This show just wouldn't fit in with their programming and I don't think someone else would pick it up -- other networks tend to stay away from shows that touch on serious non-crime solving subjects.

As for Hayden coming back -- it wouldn't work if ANY of the actors and actresses came back unless they were counselors. Those people are no longer teens after all these years.

Yeah, I mean totally new characters. And I get what you mean. I just thought it'd be nice if they brought the show back.

Yeah, totally. Nice reference to Degrassi by the way. They could try something like this. I mean, this show is one of the most real shows I've ever seen, next to Degrassi.

I love Higher Ground, it will always hold a special place in my heart. I'll admit I've watched way more episodes of Degrassi than I'd like even my dog to know, but Degrassi is a teenage soap opera with really bad kid actors, and that's the reason they can keep rotating new actors and actresses in every four years.

I absolutely think they could create a new show based on the same premises of Higher Ground, re-cast, and make it a hit. But it's never gonna work with an over-the hill Joe Lando or even Kat (who, by the way, in my opinion, was one of the worst actresses on the show). In other words: there will be no Second Coming of Higher Ground. It's over baby.

I would definitely vote for a different show, but that was built on the same principles. There's so much teenage trash out there, anything with the kind of substance Higher Ground had would be amazing.

Higher Ground was what it was because of the entire cast they had. From the students to the teachers and the owner. It would be a different show and vibe with different characters. There have been TV shows and movies since then with similar plot lines- troubled teens going on retreat to find themselves and turnaround their lives. HG has a special place in television history and should be protected without alterations. With that being said, I was/am a big fan of this show, and have created a fan page on Facebook. Please head over and "like" the show. I am getting some information together to run this page and post some updates. Please share with anyone you would like. Thanks! -Christina Corriere

I remember being told the original plan for season 2 was to simply write Hayden off, then add in some new characters along with the old ones. Shelby's sister Jessie was suppose to be one of those new characters. I would've really liked to see how the 2nd season was going to play out.
