I totally agree, with all the kids shows they have on tv these days it's good to be able to sit your kids down to the good old fashion show like Mr. Dressup. It's a show you can watch with your kids and not drive you nuts, unlike half of the other crap on tv.

"Didn't you die a little inside when you heard he died?"

YESS!! Mr. Dressup was such a huge highlight in my tender television-addicted early youth. His arts-and-crafts ... the tickle trunk... *sob*.

reply

I was so sad when I heard he died. Much of my childhood was stricken.

does that make sense.?

reply

Yeah same here. He could have done anything but instead he chose to entertain and teach kids how to be creative. When his wife died and could no longer voice Casey and Finnagin he still didn't give up on it. It must have been painful for him but he didn't give up on the kids.

Mr. Dressup is one of my top heros for these reasons.

His wife didn't do the voices, Judith Lawrence did, and as far as I know she's still alive.

Biff's right again - Judith Lawrence [imdb.com/name/nm0492858] simply retired and still has Finnegan (my favorite) and the others with her. I recently read an article she was quoted in, from about three years ago, I think. You could probably Google around to find it.

For the longest time I thought Finnegan was called Vinegar.

I love the show too. Just a little note This is a kids show, so kids might read the boards. Just keep that in mind.

I remember what I was doing when I heard he died. I was watching a rerun of the show on CBC( I had the day of school) and my brother came in and started crying when he saw what I was watching. When I asked why he was crying he told me that Mr Dressup had died.

This was such a wonderful show, I miss it! Great for kids.

It was a great show! I watched it all the time when I was a small kid (late 70s and early 80s).
