Other fairy tales you wish they'd done

Obviously, they hit all the big ones (and even a few lesser known ones, such as "The Nightingale," "The Boy Who Left Home to Find Out About the Shivers" and "The Princess Who Had Never Laughed"), but I would've loved to have seen a few more get made -- particularly because I feel "Rip Van Winkle" would've probably been better suited for FTT's spinoff series, Tall Tales and Legends. I probably would've replaced it with either "Three Billy Goats Gruff" (though, like "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," would've probably needed a bit of expansion to go the full 50-minute runtime) or another Hans Christian Andersen tale, such as "The Ugly Duckling," "The Little Match Girl," "The Tinderbox," "The Red Shoes," or "The Steadfast Tin Soldier" (again, some of those might have needed expansion).

Snow White and Rose Red.

Even as a kid, I wondered how it would have gone if they had done the "Bremen Town Musicians".

Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland aren't fairy tales but full length novels, although it would have been great to have a spin off series that covered that sort of stuff.

Is there a story that goes with The Sugar a Plum a Fairy? I thought she was originally just a character in a The Nutcracker ballet.

reply

The actual title of the novel is also ALICE'S ADVENTURES in Wonderland; the title "Alice in Wonderland" is strictly a Disney creation, presumably because, like nearly all subsequent adaptations, it also borrows elements from the follow-up Alice Through the Looking Glass.

A couple other possible titles I forgot to mention: "The Brave Little Tailor" and "The Shoemaker and the Elves."

reply

It isn't strictly a Disney creation there are reprints of the original novel before the Disney movie with the abbreviated title.

Similiar to 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' eventually becoming 'The Wizard of Oz'

Either way it isn't a fairutale

Here's one that would have been good. How about E. Nesbit's "Melisande"?

I wish they did Bluebeard but I totally understand why they didn't. hehe
Vasilisa the Beautiful is another one that'd make an interesting episode.

I always wanted them to do "Bearskin." I had it all worked out in my head - I wanted Mandy Patinkin to play the lead and Richard O'Brien to play the devil. Would have been a great episode! (Sadly nobody asked me in 1985).

I don't care about money. I just want to be wonderful. - Marilyn Monroe
