IN TOP 250?? are u KIDDING ME???

how the hell is this up in the top 250 man??

I'm speechless... I have no speech!

reply

well if UP can be in it.. monsters deserves it doubly so !!!

reply

Nah, UP is 100x better than this movie. Beyond the animation in this, there's not much going for it. The comedy isn't funny, the characters aren't interesting, the monsters are fairly generic looking, things just sort of happen without any reason to care about it, and it has a slow as molasses pacing that leads to a run-time it didn't really need. Even at 80 mins I would have been bored by the end, so the 92 it sits at currently just seems unneeded.

UP had even BETTER animation, characters that seemed real and genuine in their actions, comedy that actually worked, a plot that kept things moving along (until the end, I concede), and a pace that clicked by fast even at it's longish running time.

I'd vote UP at an 8 or 9, while Monsters is closer to a 6 or 7. So I agree with the OP, we really couldn't think of 250 better movies than this in the history of cinema? Really? I could come up with close to 50 ANIMATED movies alone that are better than this...

Hey Don. When did I say 'you all have to agree with the following statement'? The last guy said his opinion, then I said mine, this is a movie discussion board right? Also please point out where I insulted anyone, maybe something came off differently than I intended, but I can't find any. Nor did I ever say anyone was influenced to vote a certain way, I was just pointing out why I don't see it.

Also, they're both computer animated, family films, and from the same friggin' company. Beyond that, it was directly compared to UP because the post I RESPONDED to was comparing them, was it really that hard to follow? And I have the short attention span eh? Did you respond to the guy who compared them but favored MI? If not, you're a hypocrite who is only annoyed because I don't like a movie he does. The comparison act itself didn't bother you or you'd have responded to him too.

Also I never said I wanted it shorter because I couldn't pay attention. It's all about pacing and flow, and a few mins here and there would have helped this immensely.

Am I allowed to say that, or am i 'imposing my will on the people'? So after making things up I didn't do, putting words in my mouth I didn't say, then being a hypocrite about your own opinion, anything else you'd like to say?

PS: What did your post do that mine didn't? What's the difference? I made a list about why I didn't like it, you made one about why you did, literally the same thing. Actually, scratch that, I never made things up about the poster I responded to...

Hahaha, as funny as that was (well done sir), you didn't really have anything to say in opposition, just some semantics talk and jokes... which is cool I suppose. Touche.

1- monsters was made in 2001; up in 2010
2- up's animation was anything but realist
3- up's plot was good, but c'mon a house with baloons?? wtf?
4- up had no comedy...

-very sorry 4 my english-

reply

The house with balloons was the magic. It simply was beautiful. The supposed slapstick comedy started when they landed and were introduced to the talking dogs and the giant bird - which in many's opinions, was when the film declined sharply in quality.

Also no point comparing the animation of a 2001 movie with a 2010 one.

UP is million times better than Monster Inc.

reply

First of all Monsters INC is made like 10 years ago. It was the first thing we saw like this. It wasn't just something unseen, it was a genius. I remember when I watched it how much I loved it. It didn't matter that it's not who knows what (although it is).
So when you think of it, maybe lots of people have sentimental feelings towards it .
And it was very good... And I love Up. Just they have nothing in common. Well they have. Nothing like both of it could ever happen.
