Where are they now?

I know that this may seem to be a longshot, but I've always wondered what became of the people who were interviewed in the movie. One that I can think of off of the top of my head is Valerie (I think her name is), who appeared more "goth-punk", I wonder how they all ended up!

i know where a lot of these folks are but not the goth girl.

but then again an old band of mind recorded a few albums for byo records back in the late 90's.

Curious what happened to Brinson -- I think he owes me a beer : )

The dvd commentary tells what happened to some of the people in the movie. The French-Canadian chick lives in NYC with her kid, the crippled wheelchair guy (Marcel?) is dead. The black kid touring with the bands works for the DEA. That's all I recall.

I was hoping for some replys from people who were featured in the film. If anyone who was there sees this thread, please post a quick update! I'm curious as hell about a whole bunch of these folks. Obviously we all know what Ian Mackaye, Sean Stern and Mike Ness are up to... but what about those punks at the religious house in New York? Or the roadies? Or Monk?

I got this DVD out of the library but I think I'm gonna pick it up for my own collection just so I can watch the commentaries and hear the guys talk about where people are now!

A lot of strange things happen in this world. Things you don't know about in Grand Rapids.

There's a pretty decent DVD documentary called "Let Them Know" which covers tthe 25-year story of BYO Records and Youth Brigade. I think it was released in 2007.

At least two folks from "Another State of Mind" (apart from the Stern brothers and Ian MacKaye) are featured in "Let Them Know": a girl named Becca and the guy who gave those fun-as-hell slam dancing lessons in "Another State of Mind" (they actually made him do it again! Hilarious!).

Both of them kept involved with the Sterns and BYO along the years.

Also, there's a chapter in the new documentary where they all talk about the experience of making "Another State of Mind". According to Shawn Stern and Ian MacKaye, the scene where Mike Ness is sit on the stairs working on the song which would end up being "Another State of Mind" is fake.
