Jeff's Hat Stays On His Head The Whole Time

I noticed on some episodes of the show Jeff's hat stays on his head the whole time. On other episodes his hat came off once and on other episodes his hat came off twice. In ``Police'' ``Moving,'' and ``Tears'' his hat came off for 3 episodes in a row. What was the reason behind that?
