The very last scene of the movie shows them getting married. Just wondered if forney finished college or did he move back home and get a job somewhere like in the plastics factory? Or did Novalee move to be near him? did he end up being a history teacher????

Right at the end they get married in the Walmart. Lexie is her Maid Of Honor, standing there holding her new baby. A voice comes over the loudspeaker announcing to the Walmart customers & wedding guests that they're having a sale in some department....lawn maybe.....just as Novalee & Forney are kissing. Maybe you changed the channel at the commercial?!?
In answer to the other question. I didn't read the book, so I don't know if they said what happened to Forney. But I always pictured Novalee moving to Maine (is that the state?) with Forney, & living happily-ever-after while he taught History at the University. Oh, & of course, they would have at least 1 more child.
I'm not sure if I am remembering this exactly as it happened in the book but Forney went to Maine for his sister's funeral. Before he had gone he and Novalee did the deed and she realized she loved him. Then some busybody in the town told her about how Forney was at school in Maine and had to leave when his sister got sick. Novalee then feels like she can't be with Forney, that she's not good enough for him, and that he should go finish college. Forney comes back from Maine and Novalee tells him it was a mistake and she doesn't love him. He leaves the town again and sends letters to Americus from a bunch of different cities. Novalee finally tracks him down at an old bookstore, somewhere in OK maybe. She calls and hangs up a few times in a span of like a month or so. After she goes to see Willy Jack, she calls Forney and confesses her true feelings. That is where the book ends.

There is a scene in the movie where they get married in the Wal-Mart. That isn't in the book though, so I really don't know what happened with their relationship and their future.
shareits true there is no mention of marriage in the book but it im plies that the two want to and will get togethr suggesting that they do marry but tahts the end of the story but my guess us that they build a life together ,Forney adopts Americus as his own and the two of them live out thier days in oklahoma and have a kid together, possibly more thn one kid.Forney finds work somewhere and novalee works at walmart but cuts back now that she has a husband,they live in the house that was built for Novalee after the trailer was damages and Maine is a vaction spot for the Nation and Hull family.Novalee does not likely see her mom again and not likely Willy jack.Lexi's family stays frinds with Novalee and family.Moses,mr.Sprock and the neighbors of novalee stay friends
